Successfully coordinated local public officials, libraries, parks and Emergency
Management to protect your tax dollars against legislative attempts to further reduce
local government funds.

Enacting a smoke-free county building and vehicle policy - saving thousands of tax
dollars in maintenance and employee health care costs.

Implementing free breast & prostate cancer screenings for employees & spouses –
which saves lives and health care costs.  

Establishing the County's only Battered Women's Shelter.

Free Senior Farm Market program aiding low-income seniors while helping our farming
community.

Organized a Railroad Safety Task Force, which so far has resulted in more than 2.6
million dollars in State and private foundation grants to improve the safety of Medina
County Rail crossings.

Spearheaded with Sheriff Hassinger a collaborative effort between the courts and
service providers for programming to reduce repeat offenders in the jail resulting
from mental health issues.  

Established the Commissioner’s Charity Ball already donating close to $200,000 to
local community service organizations.

Without raising taxes:

Acquired 1.3 million dollars in state funding to build the critically needed juvenile
Detention Center

Coordinated funding to build and renovate much needed County Prosecutor’s Office
Facilities

Expanded service programs for homebound seniors including hot meals through the
Office for Older Adults

Took the lead in coordinating efforts to upgrade Emergency Dispatch and 911 systems

Organized a “one stop” service center for county agencies for your convenience

Initiated the creation of a Public Defenders Office saving hundreds of thousands of tax
dollars to provide mandatory court related services.  

Engaged with county-wide leaders building a University Center for higher education
and workforce training

Established a Comprehensive Plan grant program aiding responsible planning in our
Townships, Cities and Villages.

Pat has networked effectively with other agencies and levels of government to find
funding for many projects she has initiated for the county - from rail crossing safety
upgrades for our county's many dangerous crossings, to a juvenile detention center for
which she secured $1.3 in federal funding.
